Guide to grammar schools and the Secondary Transfer Test (11+)

Last updated: 6 April 2022

Test dates for Secondary Transfer Test

The Secondary Transfer Test dates for this autumn are 13 to 15 September for children attending Buckinghamshire primary schools and Partner schools.

Out of county children are provisionally planned to take the Secondary Transfer Test on:

  • Tuesday 13 September (practice) and
  • Thursday 15 September (Transfer Test)

Due to capacity issues some of these children will sit the Practice Test on 14 September and Transfer Test on 16 September at a grammar school test centre (if this applies you will have been advised already).

Dates will be confirmed to children when formal invitations are emailed to parents on 9 August. Please note that you cannot choose a test date, these will be allocated to you.

Any changes to testing in Autumn 2022 will be posted on the TBGS website (external site).

'Identification and Fit for Testing' form for out of county children

If your child is taking the tests at a grammar school we will send you an 'Identification and Fit for Testing' form with your testing invitation.

This form must be completed and you need to bring it to the to the Secondary Transfer Testing session; without this form we will not be able to test your child.

This form is to enable you to confirm that your child is well on the test date. You should attach a photograph of your child to the form so we can check their identity too.

If your child goes to a state funded Buckinghamshire primary school or Partner School, you do not need to fill in this form as your child's identity is confirmed by the school.

Children living abroad

If you are currently living abroad we will not test your child until they return to the UK.
