Guide to grammar schools and the Secondary Transfer Test

Last updated: 4 May 2023

Test dates for Secondary Transfer Test

The Secondary Transfer Test dates for this autumn are 12 to 14 September for children attending Buckinghamshire primary schools and Partner schools.

Children who attend any other school will sit the Transfer Test at a grammar school test centre (some test sessions may be scheduled shortly after 12/14 September).

Dates and test venues for out of county children will be confirmed when formal invitations are emailed to parents in early August. You cannot choose a test date, these will be allocated to you.

'Identification and Fit for Testing' form for out of county children

If your child is taking the tests at a grammar school we will send you an 'Identification and Fit for Testing' form with your testing invitation.

This form must be completed and you need to bring it to the to the Secondary Transfer Testing session; without this form we will not be able to test your child.

This form is to enable you to confirm that your child is well on the test date. You should attach a photograph of your child to the form so we can check their identity too.

If your child goes to a state funded Buckinghamshire primary school or Partner School, you do not need to fill in this form as your child's identity is confirmed by the school.

Children living abroad

If you are currently living abroad we will not test your child until they return to the UK.
