Report a house in multiple occupation (HMO)

A house in multiple occupation (HMO) is a building or part of a building, such as a flat, which is occupied as living accommodation by more than 2 people who:

• are not members of the same household
• share one or more basic amenity, such as a bathroom, toilet or cooking facilities

You can report a house in multiple occupation (HMO) to us if you think it:

• is being operated as an HMO without a licence, you can check if they have a licence on our HMO register
• does not have the correct fire safety regulations in place
• does not have the correct facilities for an HMO
• is overcrowded
• is not being managed properly
• is in poor condition
