Appeal a parking fine (PCN)

Support with appeals

Find answers to common PCN queries.

If you don't think the PCN should've been issued

If you think a Parking Charge Notice (PCN) was issued by mistake, you still need to submit an appeal.

Send us any evidence that supports your case, such as a payment receipt. This includes situations where you:

  • paid for parking but still received a PCN
  • entered the wrong vehicle registration number when you paid
  • paid for the wrong car park

We will review your appeal and the evidence you provide before making a decision.

Can't find the web code

You do not need a web code to appeal a PCN that was handed to you or placed on your vehicle (also known as an informal appeal).

You only need a web code if you’ve received a Notice to Owner and want to appeal it.

If you've lost your PCN number

If you lose your PCN fine reference number, contact us and tell us:

  • your vehicle registration number (also known as a number plate, licence number or licence plate)
  • the date the PCN was issued
  • details on where you were parked when the PCN was issued

If your details aren't being recognised by the form

Make sure that you are correctly inputting the details as they are written on your PCN.

For example, make sure there is no confusion over letters and digits in the vehicle registration or PCN number (O or 0, l or 1, S or 5).

If you moved address

We write to whoever the registered keeper of the vehicle was at the date of the parking contravention. The DVLA let us know the address based on the vehicle registration.

If you've moved house, you will need to have updated the V5 logbook to your new address. If you didn't do this then any PCNs or following communication will have been sent to your old address.

If you sold the vehicle

For us to send you a PCN, we will have been informed by the DVLA that you were the registered keeper of the vehicle at the time of the incident.

If this isn't true, make an appeal and attach evidence from the DVLA to support this.

If you get a court order or 'order of recovery'
