Garden waste

Renew or sign up to our garden waste service. A yearly subscription costs £62. If it's your first time subscribing, we'll send you a bin to put your waste in.

We collect garden waste every 2 weeks and suspend the service for 6 weeks during mid-December to late January.

You'll need a My Buckinghamshire online account to start or renew your garden waste service.

Get help with registering or signing into your account.

We aim to send bins and stickers out within 10 working days of payment.

If you've not received your items in that time, you can:

• request a replacement sticker
• check the status of your bin order

To receive collections, you need a valid subscription and the sticker displayed on your bin.

This year we will suspend the service between 12 December 2026 and 24 January 2027.

Use your garden waste bin to get rid of:

• grass clippings
• cuttings from trees or hedges, including leaves
• small branches (maximum diameter 10 centimetres)
• non-noxious weeds, dead plants and flowers
• fallen fruit

You cannot use your garden waste bin to get rid of:

• plastic carrier bags or bin liners
• compostable liners
• food waste
• paper or cardboard
• animal litter or bedding
• large branches or timber
• soil, turf, stones or rubble
• plant pots
• noxious weeds like Japanese Knotweed
• plants treated with agricultural chemicals

If you have any items that we cannot collect, check if you can take them to your nearest household recycling centre.

Your subscription lasts for a year from the date you subscribed. If you want to check, your expiry date is printed on your bin sticker.

You can renew online up to 2 months before the expiry date.

If needed, you can request extra garden waste bins.

Each extra subscription costs £62. The expiry date of the new bin subscription will be the same as your existing garden waste subscription.

If your bin is damaged, you can request a replacement bin.

If you're moving within Buckinghamshire, you can ask us to transfer your subscription to a new address. You do not need to take your bin with you.

If you're moving out of Buckinghamshire, or you no longer need your garden waste collected, you can cancel your subscription.

We do not provide refunds for any remaining subscription period.

You should report a missed bin collection.

Any bin weighing over 50kg will not be collected so be aware of this when disposing of heavier items such as fallen fruit.
