Authority Monitoring Report 2023 to 2024
11. Non-residential Floorspace
For the AMR, the former Town and Country Planning (Use Classes) Order 1987 (as amended) has been used. Changes to this came into effect on 1 September 2020, during the 2020/21 monitoring year. The changes introduced a new Class E for easier repurposing of high street and town centre buildings into a range of different uses without requiring planning permission.
The losses, gains and net completions, and existing, proposed and net commitments for non-residential floorspace have been monitored.
Floorspace measurements are in square metres (sqm).
The legacy areas previously monitored and reported on non-residential floorspace data differently and this led to variations in how data was presented within the AMR. We have now taken a consistent approach across all legacy areas and data is now available for all areas. For more non-residential floorspace information, see appendix 2 XLSX,62KB.
The overall net completions for non-residential floorspace for all areas have been monitored.
- The North and Central Areas completed 70,935 square metres.
- The East Area completed -2,265 square metres.
- The South Area completed -2,951 square metres.
- The West Area completed 29,804 square metres.
