Pay a parking fine (PCN)
Parking fines, legally known as a penalty charge notices (PCNs), are charged at 2 rates depending on how serious they are:
- £70 higher charge
- £50 lower charge
If you pay a parking fine within 14 days of the date it was given to you, you will get a 50% discount.
How to pay
To pay a parking fine you'll need:
- your vehicle registration number (also known as a number plate, licence number or licence plate)
- the 10 character reference number printed on your PCN
- a debit or credit card to make the payment (payments cannot be made using an American Express card)
We're aware of scam messages being sent to some residents, asking for parking fines to be paid and giving deadlines to pay by. We do not request payment by text message or WhatsApp. You can report scam messages to the National Cyber Security Centre.
Alternatively, you can pay by phone on 0333 121 0031.
If you have lost your fine reference number
If you lose your PCN fine reference number, contact the parking team and let us know:
- your vehicle registration number (also known as a number plate, licence number or licence plate)
- the date the PCN was issued
- details on where you were parked when the PCN was issued
Challenges
If you feel there is a good reason why you should not pay it, you can challenge a parking fine.
