Texts and emails from us about late payments

We will be texting or emailing residents who are late paying their Council Tax. This communication is genuine but if you’d like reassurance you can log in to check your online account or pay online. There is no need to contact us if you've already paid.

Let the Council Tax team know that you're moving in or out

Use this service to set up, move or cancel your account if you're moving:

  • into Buckinghamshire
  • within Buckinghamshire
  • out of Buckinghamshire

If you are already registered with us to pay Council Tax you will need your Council Tax account number in order to complete the form.

Moving into your first home or the first home where you're liable for Council Tax

You will need to select 'I am moving into Buckinghamshire' once on our customer portal.

Moving in with a partner, in with parents, or into a care home

Select ‘I am moving out of Buckinghamshire’ once on our customer portal and add your new address details in the comments section. Alternatively, you can email us the details at [email protected].

Buying a second home in Buckinghamshire either for own use or to rent out

You will need to select 'I am moving into Buckinghamshire' once on our customer portal.

When asked if you know the moving in date select ‘No’.

When asked if you have ever lived in the area before select ‘No’.

Under other information you will be able to select if you want the post sent to another address other than the property. You will also be able to provide information in the free text box if there is anything else you need to advise us of.

Paperless billing (e-billing)

If you opt for paperless billing (e-billing) on one of our forms you will receive an email from [email protected]. This email will give you the link and the information necessary to set up an online account so that you can view your bill.

You can also create a Council Tax account online using the details in the email.

You will receive an email whenever a new bill is issued to you. Make sure that you mark these emails as from a safe sender so that they go into your inbox.

You will not receive a paper bill if you opt for this billing method.

If you receive Council Tax Reduction or housing benefit

If you receive Council Tax Reduction or housing benefit, you will need to let the benefits team know that you've moved separately.
