Make sure your email is genuine

Some emails being received by residents about late payments are not from the council. If you're unsure, you can check your online account, pay online or contact us. Learn more about these types of emails at National Cyber security.

Add or remove someone from your Council Tax bill

Add someone to your bill

If you need your partners or joint tenants name added to the bill, you can email [email protected] with:

  • your account number
  • your address
  • full name of person to be added
  • the date they moved into the property
  • how they are liable for Council Tax (are they a partner or a joint tenant)

We will then add their name onto the account and bills.

If you're receiving a single person discount

If you currently receive a single person discount and another adult has moved into your property, you can add their name to your Council Tax account and bill by cancelling your single person discount.

As part of this process, you will be asked to provide details of the new occupant and can request that their name is added to the account.

Remove someone from your bill

If someone who you're jointly liable with has moved out of the property and you need their name removed from your Council Tax bill, you can email [email protected] with:

  • your account number
  • your address
  • the full name of the person to be removed
  • the date they moved out of the property
  • the reason they should be removed from the account and where they have moved to (if applicable)

We will then update the account and future bills.

If you're now the only adult in the property

If someone has moved out and you're now the only adult living in the property, you can apply for a single person discount.

If you're eligible, we will apply the discount to your Council Tax account from the date the person moved out.
