Wendover Community Library Transformation Fund

Could you support the Library Transformation Fund and help us create a valuable community hub for Wendover? We are seeking your donations to help us to do this!

A library transformation

Our plan is for the transformed Wendover Community Library to be a valuable community hub, providing local information and services. Books and reading will still be central, but the hub will also offer a broad range of social, cultural and educational activities with a particular focus on health and wellbeing.

A community hub for all

Plans for the new library have been informed by feedback and suggestions shared by residents, staff and volunteers through 21 engagement sessions and surveys.

The exterior and interior has been re-designed, including improved outside space and seating, a much larger children’s library, extension into the courtyard and new flexible meeting spaces. Find out more about the planned transformation.

We have secured £473,000 funding from Buckinghamshire Council Capital programme, the Arts Council Library Improvement Fund, and smaller grants from Wendover Parish Council and Wendover Community Library Trust to carry out the main work. We are keen to include additional improvement suggested by local people, such as external landscaping and the creation of study pods, and so we will now be working to submit bids for additional funding from a range of organisations.

As part of this, a new Library Transformation Fund has been set up and those who are willing and able to contribute, are being invited to consider making a donation to support the local library.

Leave a legacy

If you’d like to make a larger donation, we have two options for a permanent plaque to recognise your contribution, or honouring a loved one who has passed or a special event.

Legacy leaves

We have a limited number of beautiful metal leaves inspired by maple trees, native to Wendover. These are available in three sizes to show your support. With space for an individual, family or business name, these will be displayed outside the library entrance forming a striking piece of art. The small size (aluminium) is a minimum donation of £70, the medium (stainless steel) is £150 and the largest (brass) – perfect for businesses and community groups is £1,000.
