Renew street trading consent
If your street trading consent has expired, you may not be permitted to continue trading.
Renew your consent before its expiry date to avoid disruption to your business.
We recommend that you renew your street trading consent at least 28 days before it expires.
If your street trading consent expires before a renewal application has been accepted, you must:
- stop trading immediately
- submit a new application for street trading consent (this may be subject to a 28 day consultation period)
Street trading consent is granted for up to 12 months.
Evidence
You will need to upload evidence of the following to your online renewal:
- a basic DBS certificate issued within the last 3 months
- public liability insurance with at least £10 million cover
If you're employing staff, you need to upload proof of employers liability insurance with at least £5 million cover.
If you're using a vehicle to trade, you must provide the registration details, insurance documents and driving licence details.
Fees
Application fees are paid as part of the online application. They must be paid before an application can be processed.
Maintenance fees are requested after the application is determined. If you do not pay within 28 days of the application being determined, we charge a late payment fee of 10% of the maintenance fee.
A 50% reduction in maintenance fees is available for traders who intend to operate for 20 hours or less per week.

Replacement paperwork or re-issued consent is £25.
If you need to make changes
You should contact the contact the Licensing Team before you submit a renewal application if you need to make any changes.
We will advise whether you can continue to renew or whether a new application or variation needs to be made.
How to renew
You can renew and pay the application fee on our licensing portal.
What happens next
We will review your renewal application and make a decision.
If there are no changes to trading location and hours, nominated assistants and the nature of the business, a new consultation is not normally needed.
