Buckinghamshire Council strengthens focus on town centre growth at UKREiiF 2026
Buckinghamshire Council will attend the UK Real Estate Investment and Infrastructure Forum (UKREiiF) 2026 this week as part of its ongoing work to strengthen the long-term focus, delivery and growth of town centres across the county.
Taking place in Leeds from 19 to 21 May, UKREiiF brings together councils, government, investors and delivery partners to support regeneration, housing and infrastructure delivery.
The council’s attendance builds on a sustained programme of work to support its town centres, including progress in High Wycombe, and reflects a broader ambition to bring forward coordinated, deliverable plans across Buckinghamshire over time. At this stage, the council is focusing on Aylesbury town centre as the lead opportunity, while continuing to shape future ambitions for other locations.
At the event, Buckinghamshire Council will host a Town Centres First roundtable, bringing together local authorities, investors and delivery partners to explore how brownfield town centre land can be unlocked to deliver homes, activity and long-term value for communities.
As part of this session, the council will launch the Aylesbury Town Centre Investment Prospectus, which sets out how Aylesbury is being brought forward as a coordinated, housing-led regeneration programme, rather than a series of disconnected sites.
The prospectus highlights:
- how town centre housing can support local businesses and services
- the role of brownfield land in reducing pressure on green spaces
- how the council is coordinating land, planning and infrastructure
- the type of long-term partners needed to support delivery
Aylesbury represents the first step in a wider approach that the council intends to apply to other town centres across Buckinghamshire over time.
Steven Broadbent, Leader of Buckinghamshire Council, said:
“Supporting our town centres has been a clear priority for Buckinghamshire Council. We have been working to strengthen our focus on delivery, ensuring that we are bringing forward coordinated, realistic plans that reflect the needs of our communities and our growing economy.
“Our ambition is to ensure Buckinghamshire’s town centres remain vibrant, attractive places that people are proud of — whether they live there or visit for work, leisure or shopping.
“At UKREiiF, we are showcasing this approach through Aylesbury, setting out how we want to work in partnership to bring forward high-quality, sustainable development that supports our town centres now and into the future.”
Alongside the Aylesbury focus, the council will contribute to wider discussions at UKREiiF on economic growth, skills, infrastructure and placemaking, reflecting Buckinghamshire’s role in supporting sustainable growth across the region.
The council has stressed that no decisions or deals will be made at the event. UKREiiF provides an opportunity to hold early-stage discussions and test ideas, with any future proposals subject to normal governance, engagement and decision-making processes.
