Street trading consent

Street trading is the selling (or offering for sale) of items in public spaces, which includes:

  • roads
  • footways
  • other areas the public have access to without payment (including service stations)
  • privately owned areas that are publicly accessible, for example:
    • shopping centres
    • car parks
    • open spaces

Examples of street trading includes food stalls, catering vans and other mobile setups.

If you're serving food, you will need to register a food business.

We're reviewing street trading regulations

We previously had separate district councils for 4 areas in Buckinghamshire.

We’re currently reviewing the street trading regulations from each of these areas to create a single, unified policy. We expect to complete this review 2026.

Until then, the existing regulations for each former district still apply.
