If you repeatedly see someone failing to clean up after their dog, you can report it to us.
What you'll need
To report dog fouling, you'll need:
- the location
- the date and time
- a description of the dog
- the name and address of the person responsible (if known)
What happens next
We'll review the information you provide and may investigate.
We can only take action if we can identify the person responsible.
Dog owner's responsibilities
Dog owners must clean up after their dogs in public places.
Dog waste should be put in a bin and not left on trees, hedges or beside bins.
We may issue a fixed penalty notice of £50 to anyone who fails to clean up after their dog. If prosecuted in court, the maximum fine is £1,000.
People who are registered blind are exempt from this requirement when using an assistance dog.
