Support your library

Overview

There are several ways you can support your local library, including donating books, making a financial donation and volunteering.

Every donation and contribution helps us continue to provide welcoming, accessible library services for residents across Buckinghamshire.

You can donate books to your local library.

To help us make the best use of donations, books must:

  • be in very good condition
  • have been published within the last 3 years

Before bringing in book donations, contact your local library.

A donated book may either be added to library stock for customers to borrow, or be sold, with the proceeds contributing to library income.

Volunteer at your library

Volunteers help us support local communities and deliver library services across Buckinghamshire.

All volunteer roles require references. Some roles also require a DBS check, which we will arrange if needed.

Depending on the role, you could:

  • welcome customers and signpost them to services
  • support activities and events
  • help people develop digital skills
  • assist with day-to-day library activities

Apply online to volunteer at a Buckinghamshire library.

You can also ask about current vacancies at your local library.

Make a financial donation

Donations help us enhance services within libraries across Buckinghamshire.

Every contribution makes a difference. For example:

  • £5 could contribute towards art supplies for children's activities
  • £10 might buy extra copies of a popular book
  • £20 could help purchase a Book Group set

Your support helps us provide resources, activities and opportunities that benefit local communities.

Your decision to donate is entirely voluntary. We ask that you donate only as much as you feel comfortable with.

As donations are made to Buckinghamshire Council, Gift Aid cannot be applied to financial donations.
