Return or renew a library book or item

You can return library items at any Buckinghamshire library and renew most items online, by phone or in a library.

Return an item

You can return items to any Buckinghamshire library, but returns can only be made when the library is open. At libraries that offer Library Flex, this includes unstaffed opening hours if you're a Library Flex member.

You can also return items to any library in the South East Library Management System (SELMS) network. SELMS is a partnership of 14 local authority library services across south-east England.

Renew an item online

To renew items online, you'll need your library card number and PIN.

You cannot renew an item if:

  • another customer has reserved it
  • you owe more than £10 in overdue charges
  • the item is more than 60 days overdue

After renewing an item online 4 times, you must take it to a library before you can renew it again.
