How to apply for a spare seat on a council-run school bus

How we prioritise applications

We give first priority to people renewing their spare seat to the same school on the same bus route. This includes Year 11 students moving into their current school’s sixth form.

Then, we give priority to these children in this order:

  • children in care and children who have been adopted from care
  • children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) who have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP)
  • children of armed forces personnel as part of the Buckinghamshire Armed Forces Covenant

Next, we give priority to siblings of students who get free school transport or have priority for a spare seat and travel on the same route.

We allocate any remaining spare seats on a first-come, first-served basis, according to the date and time of the online application.

We cannot guarantee that a spare seat will continue to be available if a child who gets free school transport needs a seat.
