Roadworks and temporary traffic management measures on A41 Corridor

Location of works

From October, road users can expect an increase in roadworks and temporary traffic management measures along the A41 Corridor, south of Aylesbury, including:

  • Tring Road
  • Aston Clinton Road
  • sections of the Aston Clinton Bypass

These works support both the development of the new A41 Woodlands roundabout and wider highway maintenance and improvement works. They will help to shape great places by creating safer roads, better connectivity and smoother journeys for residents.

Scheduled roadworks

We (Buckinghamshire Council) are coordinating and managing this work and will make every effort to minimise disruption where possible.

Monday 12 October to Saturday 17 October

Location: A41 Tring Road/Aston Clinton Road, Aylesbury – Between New Road and Bedgrove.

When: The lane closure will be in place 24/7, including the Saturday.

A 24/7 lane closure of the westbound carriageway (travelling towards Aylesbury) will be in place to allow for carriageway civil works. Traffic will operate under contraflow - meaning vehicles will be directed to travel in the opposite direction to the normal or expected flow of traffic. As part of these works, deep excavation will be undertaken within both the footway and carriageway.

The lane closure will therefore remain in place 24/7, including Saturday, to maintain a safe working area and protect the public, despite working hours being between 7am to 7pm.

Location: A41 Tring Road / Aston Clinton Road, Aylesbury – Between New Road and Bedgrove.

When: A road closure will be in operation overnight between 7pm and 7am, Monday to Friday only to allow for further carriageway resurfacing works.

Why the works are happening

These works will help improve the local road network for residents, businesses and everyone who travels through the area.

As well as supporting the construction of the new A41 roundabout, which is needed to accommodate future growth and development, we are taking the opportunity to carry out essential road maintenance and improvement works at the same time .

This includes a series of resurfacing schemes and improving the vehicle restraint systems along the Aston Clinton bypass.

By coordinating these activities, we can reduce the need for separate repeated roadworks, closures and traffic management in the future, helping to minimise disruption in the longer term.

While there will be some temporary inconvenience during the works, the improvements will help create a safer, more reliable and better-maintained road network for local communities.
