Wycombe Rye Lido update – nationally renowned provider confirmed as new operator

Buckinghamshire Council is welcoming confirmation that GLL, the charitable social enterprise that operates Better leisure facilities, is to take over the lease and operations at Wycombe Rye Lido.

The Lido, based at Wycombe Rye, is a well-used and valued local facility and has been operating as normal through an administration period. The administrator and the council have been exploring options during that time, and the council is delighted that GLL intends to take on the lease and operation of Lido from early July.

Peter Brazier is Buckinghamshire Council’s Cabinet Member for Culture and Leisure. He said:
“This is a fantastic outcome for the Lido and its users. GLL are a major national leisure operator running more than 380 other sites nationally.

“To have them take over at Wycombe Rye Lido secures a really positive future for the site and its staff too.

“We look forward to them developing their plans for managing the Lido going forward – they will issue more information on that in due course.”

Gary Starkey, GLL Head of Service said: As the largest operator of Lidos in the UK, we are delighted to add Wycombe Rye Lido to the GLL family.  Our charitable values coupled with our mission to protect public services means that we will be bringing a deeper and wider offer to the local community for the long term.

"We will be in touch with Lido users and members over the coming weeks to explain the transition to GLL, which will include those who hold memberships for the Lido.  We are very much looking forward to welcoming current and new visitors to the Lido in July."
