Lessons in Excellence - Buckinghamshire Schools Awards winners revealed
It was top marks all round for schools, teachers, governors, volunteers and education support staff across the county last night (Thursday 9 July) when the winners of Buckinghamshire’s fourth annual School Awards were announced at a special ceremony at the historic Wycombe Swan.
The awards are an opportunity to celebrate the positive impact our schools make for children and young people across Buckinghamshire. The event was generously sponsored by The Wycombe Swan, Buckinghamshire New University, Supply Desk, Leap, Sounds-Write, National Institute of Teaching and Education (NITE), The Rothschild Foundation and Waddesdon Manor.
More than 150 nominations were received across 12 award categories, with individual school staff, governors and volunteers nominated by school colleagues. Those nominated were assessed by judges before the winners and runners-up were announced.
The winners were:
- New Teacher of the Year Award (sponsored by National Institute of Teaching & Education) - Macie Webb, The Chalfonts Community College
- Teacher of the Year Award (sponsored by The Rothschild Foundation & Waddesdon Manor) - Georgina Hardiman, St Michael’s Catholic School
- Headteacher of the Year Award (sponsored by Supply Desk) - Madasar Mirza, Abbey View Primary Academy
- Inclusion Award (sponsored by Buckinghamshire New University) - The SEN & Pastoral Team, Buckingham Park Church of England Primary School
- Health and Wellbeing Award (sponsored by Leap) - Mary Grant, The Mandeville School
- Volunteer of the Year Award - Anashmita Saha, Widmer End Community Combined School
- Great Governance Award - Alison Foy, Stone Church of England Combined School
- School with Excellence in Early Years Award - The EYFS Team, Buckingham Park Church of England Primary School
- Teaching Assistant of the Year Award - Anna Marie Yacomeni, Tylers Green Middle School
- Innovation in Education Award (sponsored by Sounds-Write) - The High Wycombe Primary Outreach Project, Wycombe High School & John Hampden Grammar School
- Unsung Hero Award (sponsored by The Wycombe Swan) - Joshua Ellis, Elmhurst School
- Student Voice - Teacher of the Year Award - Chaz Knutton, The Chalfonts Community College
