Help us shape the future of Wooburn Green

Residents in Wooburn Green are being invited to help shape the future of their community by taking part in a consultation on proposed updates to the village's Conservation Area.

Buckinghamshire Council has launched a public consultation and is encouraging residents, businesses and community groups to share their views on proposals to protect and celebrate the features that make Wooburn Green such a special place to live.

Conservation Areas help preserve the buildings, green spaces, views and other features that give towns and villages their unique character. They help ensure future changes are managed carefully while retaining the qualities local people value most.

Buckinghamshire Council regularly reviews Conservation Areas to make sure they continue to reflect the places and features that matter to local communities. The proposed changes for Wooburn Green would help protect the parts of the village that residents value most, from its historic buildings and green spaces to its distinctive character, helping to safeguard them for future generations.

In Wooburn Green, the proposals include three suggested changes to the Conservation Area boundary.

The review is an opportunity to make sure the Conservation Area reflects the character and heritage of Wooburn Green today. It will help identify the features residents value most and ensure future decisions continue to reflect the things local people cherish about their village.

Peter Strachan, Buckinghamshire Council's Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Planning, said:

"The character and identity of our towns and villages are a huge part of what makes Buckinghamshire such a special place to live.

"Conservation Areas play an important role in protecting the buildings, green spaces and views that local people value, while allowing communities to evolve in a way that respects their history and character.

"This consultation is an opportunity for residents to help shape how Wooburn Green is protected in the future. Local people have a unique understanding of what makes their area special, and their feedback will help influence future decisions about the village's character and heritage.

"I would encourage anyone who lives, works or spends time in Wooburn Green to take a look at the proposals and share their views."

The consultation forms part of Buckinghamshire Council's commitment to putting residents at the heart of decision-making and protecting the places that matter most to local communities. By sharing their views, local people can help shape how Wooburn Green develops in the future while preserving the qualities that make it unique.

Protecting important green spaces, historic settings and attractive village streets also helps maintain the local environment that residents and visitors enjoy, ensuring Wooburn Green remains a distinctive and welcoming place for years to come.
