Homeless and temporary accommodation

When you may get temporary accommodation

If you approach the council as homeless, we may decide that we have a legal duty to provide you with temporary accommodation whilst we investigate your circumstances and work with you to find alternative accommodation. This may continue after we have made a decision about your homeless application.

The accommodation is being made available to you in line with the Council’s legal duties under Part 7 of the Housing Act 1996, subsequently updated by the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.
