Accessible Housing and Resources Cabinet Portfolio

Last updated: 10 August 2022

Context of the portfolio

The work of the portfolio spans across 3 Directorates but predominantly covers Resources which is 25% of the council’s people and provides the Council with its support services.

Like all other portfolios, we are facing challenging financial circumstances and there is a focus on financial sustainability which is heavily influenced by implications of Covid-19, such as:

  • expected income levels
  • additional demands on services
  • risks associated with the budget and associated government funding
  • managing inflation pressures

Better Buckinghamshire impacts on Resources twice – supporting the organisation and delivery of our own share of this savings programme.

The property service is a key focus for creating additional income and capital receipt over the period of the Medium Term Financial Plan (MTFP).

The service covers operational, investment, development, community and leisure based assets as well as a programme designed to reduce the operational footprint of the Estate.

Efficiencies, income and saving opportunities are programmed to achieve over £6 million for the duration of the MTFP plan period.
