Hot weather

The weather is exceptionally hot. View guidance on conserving water and staying safe in hot weather and what to do if you see someone sleeping on the streets on Severe Weather Emergency Provision (SWEP).

Bin collections will start from 6am on 30 June and 1 July

Due to the hot weather, we'll start collecting bins from 6am on Monday 30 June and Tuesday 1 July. If your bin is due for collection, make sure you put your bins out the night before or no later than 6am on the day of collection.

Bin charges

The Council have in place policies to apply charges for the provision of waste containers, including:

  • for any new development it is the responsibility of the developer, or the new occupier in the second instance, to request and pay for waste containers
  • containers will only be delivered once payment has been received in full
  • delivery may take up to 4 to 8 weeks from payment dependant of the number and size of bins required
  • where the Council believe there is sufficient room for recycling, all containers must be purchased, not just those for residual waste
  • there may also be a charge if containers are lost, stolen or damaged by residents
  • all collection containers provided remain the property of the Council
  • container charges are reviewed annually by the Council
