Book a collection of sharps boxes

Book a collection of sharps boxes from your home.

Sharps include items such as:

• needles
• syringes
• lancets used with finger‑pricking devices
• needle clippers

To book a collection, you must store your items safely.

You must:

• use a clean, locked sharps box
• keep items in the box once placed inside
• not fill the box above the fill line

You can get sharps boxes on prescription from your GP or pharmacist.

To reduce the number of collections, only book when you have more than one box ready where possible.

On the day of your collection leave your sharps boxes out by 6am and place them where your bins are normally collected.

Keep your sharps boxes in a safe place until collection, out of sight and reach of children and others.

If you need to change or cancel your booking, phone 0300 131 6000 and select option 6.

You must do this at least 48 hours before your scheduled collection.

Collections can take place any time up to 6pm.

If your sharps are not collected, report a missed collection.
