Culture development in High Wycombe

We're working on a cultural transformation of High Wycombe.

We've worked with Bucks Culture and the local creative community to secure funding from Arts Council England’s Place Partnership Fund and The Rothschild Foundation.

This funding will:

  • strengthen the cultural sector
  • build new partnerships
  • create opportunities for creative professionals and communities

This project is called We Make Wycombe.

Spotlight Weeks

Spotlight Weeks are a key part of We Make Wycombe. They are designed to showcase High Wycombe’s creativity in a way that is fresh, inspiring and impossible to ignore.

Spotlight Weeks run each month until the programme ends in March 2028.

Each Spotlight Week runs for one full week, including 2 weekends. It provides a platform to shine a light on creativity, culture and heritage – raising visibility, engaging the community and celebrating High Wycombe's cultural energy.

Spotlight Weeks are Designed to:

  • give up and coming creatives a platform and professional experience
  • bring new audiences into contact with local talent
  • celebrate the diversity of High Wycombe’s creative community
  • build confidence, skills and connections across the sector

Every event is free to attend and there are many ways to get involved and try something new.

Cultural Conversations and Creative Exchanges

We hold Cultural Conversations at the hub on the last Friday of each month.

You can join anytime from midday to 2pm. View the latest event.

If you would like to lead a Cultural Conversation, contact the project manager on [email protected].

We also run Creative Exchanges. These are informal social evenings for creatives (from up and coming to established) from across Wycombe held in the Hub around once a quarter. They're an opportunity to share, connect and learn in an informal and supportive environment.

Numbers are usually limited, so sign up to the mailing list by emailing [email protected] to make sure you are the first to know when new dates are announced.

Our latest progress

The project started in April 2025 and we have:

  • opened the hub doors to the wider community on 27 September with live music, collaborative art and interactive AI experiences
  • delivered six Spotlight Weeks which collectively attracted more than 800 visitors, with over 300 festival attendees, strong workshop participation and shoots of legacy for the artists
  • commissioned two local creatives, Hope and Kind, for our first Artist Commission: Migration, Journey’s and New Beginnings
  • held Steering Group meetings with Strategic and Community Partners and our next meeting is 21 July

We're currently:

  • developing a skills programme
  • working on a second Artist Commission
  • developing an environmental programme
  • working on Community Exhibition with local partners
  • continuing to develop a Spotlight Programme of activity
  • working with the local creative community to support mini hub takeovers
