Complete a notification of commencement for building work

If you've received building regulations approval, you must tell us:

• before building work starts
• when building work has officially started

This helps us arrange inspections and make sure your project complies with building regulations requirements.

You must tell us at least 2 working days before building work begins.

You must tell us again within 5 working days of building work officially starting.

For a new building, work is considered to have started when:

• the foundations have been completed
• the ground floor level has been built
• any basement work has been completed, if applicable

For all other building work, work is considered to have started when at least 15% of the planned work has been completed.

After submitting your notification, you must book a site inspection.
