Five Points Roundabout improvements (Iver)
About the works
Work is taking place on the busy A412 west of the Five Points Roundabout and Wood Lane south in Iver.
The works comprise:
- the signalisation of the roundabout to improve capacity and address existing congestion issues
- significant repairs and upgrades to the existing drainage infrastructure
This work will be completed in phases, with different organisations involved:
- Buckinghamshire Council
- Pinewood Studios
- a statutory services provider
All organisations are working together to co-ordinate the work and carry it out as efficiently as possible to keep the time required to complete it to a minimum.
Who is co-ordinating the roadworks
Our Streetworks Team is working with all organisations to co-ordinate this planned work.
They'll postpone any other roadworks in the area to keep traffic moving as much as possible (unless they are emergency works, which we are unable to stop).

Our latest update (July 2026)
Work on phase 2 is ongoing.
Erith Contractors is continuing to make good progress with excavation works and the construction of new footpaths along Wood Lane. As part of this phase, the team is also working closely with Cadent Gas and BT to install new service ducting and divert existing utility apparatus where required.
Works will begin on the westbound side of Uxbridge Road, where the existing footpath will be widened and upgraded with new kerbs and tarmac surfacing.
The programme will then progress along Slough Road towards Church Road, including the installation of new drainage and service ducting, followed by construction of the new road formation.
Traffic management
Traffic management measures will be in place throughout the work to allow vehicles to travel through the site with minimum disruption. Some overnight closures (8pm to 6am) will be necessary towards the end of the works; these will always be communicated to local residents, businesses and road users in advance.
Every effort will be made to keep disruption to a minimum.
We will allow access for residents and businesses along the following roads at all times:
- Uxbridge Road
- Pinewood Road
- Church Road
- Slough Road
- Wood Lane
The team is committed to making sure that residents can reach their homes and premises with minimal impact.

The first phase will be carried out by Buckinghamshire Highways. Work will take place from 8am to 8pm on weekdays, with these extended hours adopted to complete the work as soon as possible.
10 June to 14 July 2024
Work included understanding what utilities are already in place and where they are under the road on Wood Lane using ground penetrating radar.
Temporary traffic lights were in use.
15 July through to late August 2024
Drainage improvement works involved closures of Wood Lane, with a one-way, clockwise system in place for access. Drivers followed a diversion via the A4007 eastbound, then Bangors Road South southbound (where there were temporary traffic lights), then B470 High Street and Langley Park Road westbound, then Wood Lane northbound.
Late August 2024 to October 2024
We changed our plans in response to what we discovered as we progressed our work at this site.
We removed the road closure on Wood Lane and took down the traffic lights on the diversion route. Instead, multi-way traffic lights operating 24/7 to control traffic, including at the weekend, were in operation through to 30 August. This was so we could complete the final repairs to the existing drainage network on the west side of Wood Lane northbound.
Starting on 2 September, the next element of the work was on the roundabout itself and its Wood Lane and Uxbridge Road ‘arms’. We put in place a combination of traffic management measures, including an additional road closure on Wood Lane for a short period. This was flexible throughout the scheme to help reduce congestion as much as possible while ensuring the safety of our crews. This enabled us to lay drainage pipe from near the Crooked Billet Pub car park exit to the verge next to the pub car park.
The drainage part of this work was completed on 11 October.
We continue to communicate with residents, businesses and stakeholders by delivering letters to homes and businesses in the area, updating the information on this page and sharing it on social media (follow Buckinghamshire Highways on Facebook and X for the latest updates).
Now Buckinghamshire Highways’ work has been completed, phase 2 will begin.
Contractors, on behalf of Pinewood Studios, will start on the major improvement works. The works are a legal requirement from Buckinghamshire Council in connection with the Pinewood Studios Development Framework planning permission. The improvements include signalisation of the roundabout, pedestrian and cycle crossings and other associated infrastructure such as street lighting.
September 2025
These improvements, which are being carried out by Erith Contractors on behalf of Pinewood Studios, are a legal requirement from Buckinghamshire Council in connection with the Pinewood Studios Development Framework planning permission.
Improvements are designed to make journeys safer and smoother by car, bicycle and on foot, such as:
- making the roundabout larger to improve traffic flow
- upgrading footpaths and traffic islands
- installing new signage and signals
- installing pedestrian crossings
- road resurfacing
The works will take place in stages:
- Ground investigations from Monday 15 September 2025 for approximately 5 weeks
- Main construction works will follow, starting Monday 19 January 2026, continuing until March 2027
Potential futue phase
To minimise long-term disruption, integration of third-party works will be explored by the Council to prevent more works at the roundabout.
For now, this work is scheduled to last until March 2027.
