Apply for an asbestos waste permit

You will need a waste permit to dispose of asbestos at a household recycling centre.

Dealing with asbestos and what we will accept

When removing the asbestos keep it damp. Do not saw it, cut it, break it or rub it in. Asbestos sheeting must be wrapped in accordance with HSE guidelines.

Double wrap it in 1000 gauge polythene (which can be purchased from any builders' merchants') and tape it up securely.

We will only accept asbestos where:

  • it is bonded
  • all wood, glass, plastic and metal has been removed
  • it is double bagged and wrapped

It should be equivalent to either:

  • 4 sheets (2.4m x 0.9m)
  • 3 normal bin bags worth

Sites that accept asbestos

We only accept asbestos at these recycling centres:

  • Amersham
  • Aston Clinton
  • Aylesbury
  • Beaconsfield
  • Langley
  • High Wycombe

  • all waste brought to the site must be from the permit holder's home
  • the householder who applied for the permit must be there when the waste is brought to the recycling centre
  • once the time limit has run out on your permit, you must renew before you visit again
  • no business waste allowed to disposed of using a permit

Business customers can visit the business waste pages for more information.
