Book a collection of sharps boxes

You can book a collection of sharps boxes containing medical instruments that could cause cuts or puncture wounds from your home, for example:

• needles
• syringes
• lancets used with finger-pricking device
• needle clippers

All items for collection must be stored in a clean, locked sharps box.

You should always:

• put used items into the sharps box immediately and not take them out again
• only fill the bin to the fill line
• store the box in a safe place that's out of sight and reach of children and others

Sharps boxes are available on prescription from your GP or pharmacist.

Where possible, only make a booking when you have multiple boxes ready for collection.

If you need to cancel or amend your booking, you must do so within 48 hours of the scheduled collection date.

If we have not collected by then, you should report a missed clinical waste collection.
