Apply for the Warm Homes Local Grant

Buckinghamshire Council has secured Warm Homes Local Grant funding, from the Government’s Department for Energy Security and Net Zero.

Who is involved?

Buckinghamshire Council is working with the National Energy Foundation to deliver the Warm Homes Local Grant in Buckinghamshire.

What is the grant for?

The scheme offers fully funded energy-saving upgrades for eligible residents. These upgrades could help you to reduce your carbon footprint and spend less on your energy bills.

If you're eligible, the grant could fully fund:

  • insulation upgrades such as wall or loft insulation (that will help keep you warm in winter)
  • a low carbon heating system such as an air source heat pump (which could mean upgrading or replacing the existing heating system)
  • solar photovoltaic (PV) systems (which generate electricity)
  • smart heating controls (which make sure you only use heat when you need it)

A survey will be conducted to identify what is suitable for your home.

This grant is different to the low-cost easy retrofit resource efficiency (LCERRE) measures being offered via the Energy Doctor scheme.

Who is eligible for the funding?

To be eligible, you must be a homeowner or private tenant and have:

  • An Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of D, E, F or G. If you do not know your home’s EPC, you can find it out when you apply.

You must also meet one of the following income criteria:

  • you live in a household with a combined annual income of less than £36,000 (inclusive of tax)
  • a member of the household is in receipt of certain income-related means-tested benefits such as Universal Credit or Jobseeker’s Allowance
  • you live in a pre-qualified postcode area

Landlords may be required to contribute towards the cost of the improvements. This will be agreed before work begins
