White Hart Street - Latest update

The improvements to the public realm at White Hart Street will enhance the area for residents and visitors and support food and beverage businesses to provide outdoor 'alfresco' seating. Improvements to the public realm also allows for more cultural and creative activities such as the popular ‘Frog Fest’. This will help to activate, animate, and celebrate the culture of High Wycombe through murals, shows, and events.
Progress Update
We are coming up to nearly half a year since main works were completed in White Hart Street. We thank all the businesses and residents for their patience and understanding whilst the works were carried out.

Look-ahead to additional paving works
As part of the original proposals, we had planned to continue the footway resurfacing up to the Eden (Flyover) entrance next to Supercuts. The council has been working closely with its neighbouring landowners to agree for these works to finally commence. The same natural stone paving will be used to seamlessly tie into the new surfacing laid earlier this year. We expect these additional works to take two weeks to complete including weekend working.
- MBM Groundworks will return to setup and survey the site including material deliveries.
- Traffic management barriers will be put in place along the footway to keep pedestrians safe whilst we carry out the works.
- We will begin to break out and removal of the old surfacing from between Timpson and Eden Entrance.
- Installation of surface water drainage and gully to address existing ponding issues.
- Installation of the new subbase material and footway paving.
- We will switch around the traffic management to the northside of the footway.
- Break out and removal of the remaining surfacing and installation of bollards outside the Eden access.
- Followed by installation of the new subbase material and footway paving.

Traffic management

Phasing plan for the additional surfacing
These works are limited to the footway only and will be completed in two phases to keep accesses open. Firstly the southern side of the footway from Timpson to Eden (shown in orange), followed by the northern side (shown in green) outside the former Sport Direct shop.
Importantly, we do not require temporary traffic lights or a road closure to complete these works. However, there will be barriers in place to keep pedestrians safe whilst we carry out the tasks.
Parking
The construction works do not alter the parking restrictions currently in place around White Hart Street (Pedestrian Zone, No Loading, No Waiting At Any Time). No vehicles are allowed to park in the area including disabled/blue badge users without dispensation from Parking Services.

To help support the recent improvement works and manage access, we will continue to review and implement appropriate traffic management restrictions including the use of camera enforcement to deter illegal parking in the area.
Noise Impacts
Whilst on site we will continue to use noise barriers to help suppress noise and visual impacts to nearby properties and businesses. As a guide noisy works, associated with breaking out of the surfacing and cutting of the new paving slabs, will be planned during the following hours.
- Monday to Friday - from 8am until 6pm
- Saturday - from 8am until 1pm
