Refer a child not receiving a formal education to us
We have a statutory duty to try and identify and locate children between the ages of 5 to 16 who are missing from education. This is in line with the CME guidelines 2016.
Children missing from education are not:
- on a school roll
- being educated in an alternative provision or at home
- in private education
How to make a referral
You can make a referral if you're:
- school staff
- a relevant professional
Schools must also complete and return a CME tracking sheet (PDF, 150 KB) and upload this as a part of the online referral.
