Fees
View fees for different types of planning application.
If you're submitting your application via the Planning Portal you can pay your fees using the Planning Portal's online service.
Apply for permission
You can apply for planning permission using the national Planning Portal.
When you submit a paper application, we'll update our system and send you an email with:
- the reference number
- the fee you need to pay
- a link to the payment form
You should pay as soon as possible because we will not process your application until you have paid the full amount.
If any information in your application is incorrect or missing, it will be returned to you, delaying your planning process.
To make sure your application is reviewed quickly and efficiently you should read through our Local Validation List.
This sets out what you need to submit alongside your application including:
- plans and diagrams
- forms
- supporting documents such as statements or assessments
For help preparing your application, you can pay for validation advice from our Planning Team.
After you've paid your fees for the application we will check that all the right documents have been submitted and they are correct.
If your application is incorrect or has items missing, we will let you know and you will need to make the necessary changes before your application is continued.
Once the application is corrected and valid, a planning officer will aim to make a decision within 8 to 13 weeks of receiving the valid application. Although often a longer period is agreed with the applicant.
If the decision takes longer than expected, you can appeal through GOV.UK.
