Improvements to the Railway Walk in Buckingham
We're proposing to upgrade Buckingham’s Railway Walk and Scenic Walk which connect Tingewick Road and the A421 along the former railway line.
The project is identified in the Buckingham Transport Strategy and Buckingham LCWIP-lite.
The changes we're proposing
The project aims to create a surfaced path that is accessible for walking, wheeling and cycling for the first time.
New safe crossing points are also proposed on both Tingewick Road and the A421 at either end of the path, supporting onward journeys places including:
- nearby employment sites
- nearby industrial sites
- Winslow Station (via the existing A413 walking and cycling route)
These improvements will be supported with:
- new signs
- solar studs
- accessibility enhancements (including ramps and resting points)
We're working closely with stakeholders including Buckingham Town Council and the University of Buckingham. The path will be designed to minimise impacts on the environment, recognising the path’s heritage.
How the project is being funded
We've received a grant from Active Travel England (ATE) and contributions from Section 106 developers from nearby development sites.
Project updates
We'll publish updates on this page as the project continues.
