Works start on new Bridge Street Skate park
Works to the new Bridge Street Skatepark in Buckingham have just begun.
Estimated to take around 12 weeks to complete, it is anticipated that the new facility will be open and ready to use by November this year.
The new skatepark promises to bring a very welcome space for local children and residents to enjoy, some of whom helped inform the design through the consultation process.
The inclusive skatepark is designed for all ages, experience and abilities, enabling progression at individual levels, whilst providing a variety of obstacles appealing to differing disciplines, including skateboard, BMX, Wheelchair Moto Cross (WCMX) and scooter users.
The £250,000 investment on the site of the former skate park is being funded by Section 106 money from local housing developments. Works at the site have been delayed from starting due to flood mitigation requirements set down by the Environment Agency which have now been settled.
Clive Harriss, Buckinghamshire Council’s Cabinet Member for Culture and Leisure said: “It is great news that these works are now starting, and the countdown is on to completion! We know how eagerly anticipated this facility is and we thank local residents for their patience while all the finer details have been worked out. We are really pleased to be able to finally start work creating this wonderful new community asset for residents of Buckingham and beyond to enjoy.”
