Winners announced for this year’s Buckinghamshire Design Awards

The winners of this year's Buckinghamshire Design Awards have just been announced.

There was a diverse range of winners across the six categories, as well as for the People's Choice Award – which was voted for by members of the public.

The Design Awards celebrate the best examples of good design in the county, with the aim of raising the standards for future built development and land management in Buckinghamshire.

This year, a panel of judges reviewed more than 34 recently completed development projects, all of which have demonstrated significant contribution to the local environment.

The full list of winners, runners-up and highly commended are:

Public Spaces

  • Winner: Riverside, Taplow
  • Runner Up: St. Peter's Memorial Garden, Chalfont St. Peter

Riverside, Taplow was developed by The Berkeley Group, sponsors of the People’s Choice Award. The Berkeley Group has not been involved in the judging process.

Historic Places

  • Winner: Brunel Engine Shed, High Wycombe
  • Runner Up: The Conservatory Café, Cliveden
  • Highly Commended: Badminton House, Amersham

Unique Buildings

  • Winner: The Village Nursery, Bellingdon
  • Runner Up: Chelwood, Chesham Bois
  • Highly Commended: West House, Stowe School

New Communities

  • Winner: Chilterns Lifestyle Centre, Amersham
  • Runner Up: Clarendon House, Buckingham
  • Highly Commended: Riverside, Taplow

Travel & Transport

  • Winner: Platinum Way, Aylesbury
  • Runner Up: St. Peter's Greenway, Aylesbury

Climate Change & Nature

  • Winner: The Village Nursery, Bellingdon
  • Runner Up: Haddenham Airfield Pavilion, Haddenham

Following a public vote, the Brunel Engine Shed in High Wycombe was announced as the winner of the People’s Choice Awards.

On announcing the winners, Buckinghamshire Council’s Cabinet Member for Planning and Regeneration, Peter Strachan said:

“Big congratulations to all the winning schemes in this year's Design Awards. These awards showcase the best in architecture and design across Buckinghamshire. By celebrating first-rate design like this, the awards help set high standards for future development projects in the county.

“The People's Choice Award is especially important as it lets the public vote for their favourite scheme. For a project to win this popular vote is a real badge of honour. All the winning designs are creative and innovative, helping to shape the future face of Bucks. So well done to the talented teams behind these fantastic projects – you should be very proud of your achievements.”
