Thank you to all our carers
Buckinghamshire Council would like to send a heartfelt thank you to all carers in Bucks this Carers Week (6-12 June). There are an estimated 45,000 people in the county who care for a loved one in some way.
The annual awareness week provides the opportunity to shine a light on the world of unpaid carers of all ages. It aims to raise awareness of the challenges faced by carers and to recognise the contributions they make to families and communities. The theme of this year’s campaign is ‘Make caring visible, valued and supported’ and recognises the work of unpaid carers and the challenges of caring in all areas of life. A carer is anyone who provides support and care on a regular basis to another person, often a family member or a close friend.
Angela Macpherson, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Health & Wellbeing said: “Many people who are carers aren't aware of the wide range of support and help available to them to support them in their incredibly valuable role. Caring for a loved one is something we may all do in our lifetimes, but we must make sure we are caring for our carers too. I would like to personally thank each and every one of our Bucks carers for everything that they do and encourage them to access the support that is available .”
