Slough man fined after being caught fly-tipping twice in same Bucks layby
A man from Slough who was caught dumping waste in the same layby in Buckinghamshire on two separate occasions has been fined at court.
Saqib Hamza, age 26, from Slough, pleaded guilty to both offences concerning the illegal dumping of waste when he appeared at High Wycombe Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 30 April 2025.
The court heard that on Friday, 1 November and Saturday, 30 November 2024, waste was found illegally dumped at Allerds Road in Burnham. Buckinghamshire Council’s Enforcement Team carries out regular work in the area due to it being targeted by fly-tippers.
On both occasions, camera footage showed a vehicle reverse into a layby. The vehicle was positioned in the layby for several minutes on each occasion. When the vehicle drove off, waste was seen to have been dumped.
The vehicle recorded on the footage was traced back to Mr Hamza who was interviewed at Slough Police Station on two separate occasions. On the first occasion, Hamza denied allegations of fly-tipping and tried to blame one of his friends. However, after having time to think, Hamza requested a second interview where he then pleaded guilty to both offences.
Magistrates at High Wycombe Magistrates’ Court fined Hamza £961 for an early guilty plea and ordered him to pay costs and compensation of £2,501.36. A victim surcharge of £384 was also levied, making a total to pay of £3846.46.
Buckinghamshire Council has a zero-tolerance stance on fly-tipping – it is against the law and offenders caught in the act will face enforcement action including fixed penalties or prosecution where the available evidence allows.
