Play Around the Parishes a sizzling success!
With 38 sessions at 21 different locations across Buckinghamshire, attracting more than 2,000 people, this year’s Play Around the Parishes scheme has been declared a resounding success.
The popular initiative, run in partnership with town and parish councils, provides free, fun activities for children and families during the summer holidays. Despite the sizzling temperatures at some events, the scheme, which included games, inflatable, activities and fairground rides, was a big hit with families.
Sian Oakley who attended the Hazlemere event said: “Thank you so much for all your hard work and dedication, making such a great experience for the children, parents and carers and helping us keep as safe as possible in this hot weather with gazebos for shade. We had an amazing day, so much that we were the last to leave!"
Clive Harriss, Cabinet Member for Communities said: “We are really pleased with the success of this year’s Play Around the Parishes scheme. The school holidays should be a time for children to have carefree fun and enjoy themselves and with many families struggling to make ends meet at the moment, it is fantastic that so many have been able to get out and enjoy quality time together at these free events.”
Organisers are keen to hear from those who attended events to find out their thoughts. Clive said: “Please spare a few minutes to fill out our quick survey so we can find out what you thought of this year’s scheme, what worked well and what could have improved your experience.”
