New ‘Ropes on the Rye’ play area
Buckinghamshire Council is pleased to announce a new play area will be installed at The Rye in High Wycombe early next year.
Weather permitting, the council aims to have ‘Ropes on the Rye’ completed and ready for enjoyment in time for spring.
The design of the new accessible play area was informed by consultation through local stakeholders including the 2nd High Wycombe Brownies, and will see a bigger, better play area with inclusive equipment.
The new play area will feature:
- a large bespoke ‘Tree Castle’ multi-play unit
- mini space net
- track ride tower
- giant spinning disc
- ‘cocowave’ swing
- outdoor ‘calisthenics’ fitness unit
The new equipment includes several items crafted from recycled materials. The ‘Tree Castle’ multi-play unit will also provide an inclusive access ramp and wide slide enabling all to play together at an elevated height.

It’s due to their commitment and enthusiasm that we have once again won six Green Flag Awards across the county, including The Rye in High Wycombe.”
