Look out for your 2026/27 Council Tax bill arriving next week
If you’re signed up for e‑billing and have a Customer Access online account, your e‑bill will be ready to view from Monday 9 March. If you usually receive a paper bill, these will start being posted from Thursday 12 March.
When your e‑bill is available, you’ll get an email from [email protected] with the subject line ‘Your latest Council Tax Bill is available’. This is a genuine email, not a scam. Just log in to your Customer Access account to view your bill.
If you currently get a paper bill but would prefer to switch to environmentally friendly e‑billing, you can do so at: www.buckinghamshire.gov.uk/manage-council-tax
Your council tax bill will show your total charge for 2026/27. This includes the amounts the Council collects on behalf of the fire service, police service, and your town or parish council. The amount you pay depends on your property’s valuation and helps fund essential services across Buckinghamshire.
For 2026/27, Buckinghamshire Council’s portion of the council tax will increase by 2.99%, with an additional 2% increase for the Adult Social Care precept. This makes a total increase of 4.99%, which is equivalent to £1.86 extra per week for an average Band D household.
Please note the increase of 4.99% does not include any increases in the amounts set by the police service, fire service, or town and parish councils, which make up the overall increase in your annual bill.
From 1 April 2026, our Council Tax Reduction Scheme will be changing to an income banded scheme, meaning entitlement will be calculated based on your household income.
There is a range of support available if you need help managing your council tax payments. You may qualify for discounts or exemptions; you may be able to change your payment date or spread your payments over 12 months instead of 10. More details can be found at: buckinghamshire.gov.uk/council-tax
Buckinghamshire Council’s Cabinet Member for Resources, Robert Carington, has reassured residents of the Council’s ongoing support:
"We know many households are feeling the impact of the cost of living. If you’re finding it difficult to pay your council tax, it’s really important that you contact us as soon as possible. We want to make sure you receive any discounts or exemptions you may be entitled to. We may also be able to adjust your instalment dates or spread payments over 12 months instead of 10 to help ease the pressure.
“If the amount of council tax reduction you receive has changed, and you are concerned about managing your payments from April 2026, please contact us on either the link or number below, so we can talk to you about any extra support that may be available, such as the Exceptional Hardship Fund.”
