Don’t miss out on your Government council tax energy rebate – cash your voucher now!
Residents who have received their recent council tax rebate in voucher form are being reminded that they must take them to the Post Office to convert them into cash by 30 September, or they risk losing out.
Last week the council reported that 100% of residents in Bucks who were due a refund on their council tax bills have now received them. Those who pay by direct debit received their funds directly into their bank account. Residents who pay by other means were contacted and either provided bank details for payment or were sent a letter containing a voucher code in the post. To gain their refund, these residents simply need to take one final step which is to take the letter, which contains their unique code, and a form of photo ID, to the Post Office where it will be scanned and they will be given their £150 in cash.
John Chilver, Cabinet Member for Affordable Housing & Resources said: “According to our records, to date, we still have 9,500 residents who haven’t cashed their vouchers. We know how much every penny counts at the moment, so we don’t want anyone to miss out. If you haven’t yet taken your letter and ID to the Post Office, make sure you do so as a priority because time is running out. Payments cannot be made after 30 September, so it is vital that you act now and claim the cash that is owed to you.”
Anyone unable to get to the Post Office themselves can have a friend or relative collect the money on their behalf. They will need the original letter and relevant identification. The process is explained on the voucher letter and also on our website.
