Be a Better Biker is back for 2023!

Buckinghamshire Council’s road safety initiative Travel Safe Bucks is back and once again working with a number of partners to deliver successful ‘Be a Better Biker’ (BaBB) workshops across the Thames Valley area.

Developed by Buckinghamshire Council with a view to reducing the number of bikers killed or injured on the roads, the courses are delivered in partnership with Thames Valley Advanced Motorcyclists, Buckinghamshire Advanced Riders & Drivers, Milton Keynes Advanced Motorists and local fire and rescue services. The courses are now running for the 14th year and have helped hundreds of bikers in Buckinghamshire to boost their skills and confidence. Through the years, the workshops have been well attended, and spaces are expected to sell out quickly.

Whether you’re a relatively new biker, returning to motorcycling, or a rider who has years of experience behind you, anyone is welcome at the Be a Better Biker workshops. All bikers can expect help and support in taking their skills to the next level – whether you want to improve your riding skills or to get up to date with the latest training. As long as you have a full license, the Be a Better Biker workshops are right for you!

Costing just £20 per participant, the workshops run from 25 March through to July, and consist of a presentation, followed by a ride around the local area accompanied by an advanced rider who will provide you with feedback.

Steven Broadbent, Cabinet Member for Transport, said:

“We are incredibly fortunate to have so many beautiful country roads across the county that make for spectacular routes for motorcyclists to take advantage of.

"We want everyone to be safe on our roads as unfortunately, 84* riders have been killed or seriously injured across Buckinghamshire in the last three years, which is why the Be a Better Biker courses are so important for motorcyclists, and we hope that bikers will take advantage of this amazing resource. I am very happy that Buckinghamshire Council is supporting these workshops which aim to improve safety and enjoyment for all bikers."

If you live or ride in Buckinghamshire, you are welcome at Be a Better Biker course. No matter if you ride a superbike, classic, or tourer – you just need a full licence to join!
