Disabled Facilities Grant and Housing Assistance Policy

Under section 343 of the Armed Forces Act 2006 (as amended by section 8 of the Armed Forces Act 2021), the Council must consider the Armed Forces Covenant when allocating Disabled Facilities Grants and may offer special consideration for veterans in certain situations.

For injured or disabled service personnel who live in Service Accommodation and continue to work in the Armed Forces, any adaptations for them or their dependents will be funded by the Ministry of Defence.

For service personnel who live in their own accommodation who are applying to the Council on behalf of themselves or family members, or from veterans of the Armed Forces, the statutory Armed Forces Covenant Duty is likely to apply.
