Rough sleepers

How you can help rough sleepers

It is difficult to walk past someone in need. We ask that you work with us to make real change, instead of giving spare change to people who beg. There are a number of ways to do this.

Donate to one of our partner charities listed below. They are all working hard throughout Buckinghamshire to bringing real and sustained change to the lives of people at risk of becoming street homeless and those already on the street The comprehensive and client centred help that we offer includes:

  • helping to address mental health or substance abuse issues
  • providing or assisting people to find accommodation
  • helping people sustain a tenancy along with support and advice

Volunteer to help homeless people

In addition to our partner charities listed below, there are other support groups.

These groups are always looking for volunteers to support their work, for instance you could:

  • help to prepare meals
  • put together food parcels
  • sort clothing
  • take the time to talk to guests

Signposting homeless people to support

If you have the time, stop and talk to a person on the street. You might be able to help direct them to a support group that can help them with housing, advice or mental health support.

Buy food or drink for homeless people

You could buy a hot drink or some food for people sleeping rough. However, you should ask them first about any allergies or dietary requirements.
