Apply for consent for noisy works (Section 61)
If you're a developer or contractor, you can apply for consent to do works that generate noise.
This is under Section 61 of the Control of Pollution Act 1974.
If you do not apply for consent
There is no statutory requirement for you to apply for consent. However you may want to apply to ensure your development is not disrupted.
If we receive several complaints about the noise (and the complaints are substantiated) we can take action against your works.
This is under Section 60 of the Control of Pollution Act 1974.
If you have applied for consent under Section 61, we can not serve you with a Section 60.
