Tree planting schemes

Bucks Tree Mission

We created the Bucks Tree Mission to meet our target of planting 543,000 trees (a tree for every resident of Buckinghamshire).

This is part of our Climate Change and Air Quality Strategy.

So far, we've planted over 245,000 trees in new woodlands and on land we own.

We've now expanded the programme to include supporting tree planting on land that we don't own in Buckinghamshire.

We're now encouraging residents and community groups to plant trees on their land.

Volunteering

We couldn’t achieve our ambitious tree planting targets without the help of our wonderful volunteers.

We'll add the details of volunteering events on this page soon, but you can also register your interest to get involved.

You can also search on local community boards and forums.

Benefits of planting trees

Trees bring a lot of benefits to our environment and help mitigate climate change, including:

  • sequestering carbon dioxide
  • reducing the temperature in the areas around them
  • reducing surface water run-off.

Creating new woodland will also provide new habitats and protect existing habitats. This will help to enhance biodiversity and give residents more recreational spaces to enjoy.

New woodlands we've planted so far

New woodlands we've planted include:

  • Billet Field Wood, Iver
  • Bury Farm Wood, Amersham
  • Grange Farm Wood, Hazlemere
  • Lower Munt's Wood, Saunderton
  • Roddimore Wood, Winslow
  • Isle of Wight Wood, Gerrards Cross
