Chesham ward action plan

Chesham ward partnership have developed an action plan to address local issues and improve opportunities for all. This is part of the Opportunity Bucks programme which aims to help residents access the opportunities on offer in Buckinghamshire.

Cllr Gareth Williams and colleagues from the Community Engagement and Development team at a ward partnership meeting to develop local action plans

The ward partnership would like to hear your ideas on how to improve:

  • education and youth engagement
  • jobs, careers and skills
  • quality of the public realm
  • standard of living
  • health and wellbeing

We want to hear from the community about your ideas to improve this area.

Local priorities

The ward partnership brings together local people, community groups, organisations, and councillors to take action on what’s important to their area.

We have identified priorities that we are working on over the coming months:

  • improvements to the public realm including parks and playgrounds and increasing use of green spaces
  • provide youth activities and safe spaces for young people to meet, addressing anti-social behaviour and lack of local youth provision
  • develop a community hub and improve the use of community spaces to increase community cohesion and reduce social isolation
  • improve educational aspiration and opportunities for young people and adults – addressing social mobility through educational attainment

Current projects

We are currently:

  • working with Ivingswood academy to improve opportunities for pupils and develop opportunities to increase aspiration for their futures by implementing a forest school. This project is underway with one of our delivery partners
  • the first pilot parent course was delivered in Ivingswood Academy, and was a great success. Scoping with other schools to get involved (free Breakfast clubs where parents stay for the course) supporting parents and increasing engagement
  • developing a Community Hub- Work with local partners to explore venues for a community hub that will provide the opportunity to bring services into the community and develop community outreach – for e.g. health, skills and employment; alongside improving social connections through community cafes and activities

How to get involved
