Abbey ward action plan

Abbey ward partnership has developed an action plan to address local issues and improve opportunities. This is part of the Opportunity Bucks programme which aims to help residents access the opportunities on offer in Buckinghamshire.

Leader of Buckinghamshire Council and Buckinghamshire Council's Chief Executive with ward partnership members visiting areas of interest in Abbey ward

The ward partnership would like to hear your ideas on how to improve:

  • education and youth engagement
  • jobs, careers and skills
  • quality of public realm
  • standard of living
  • health and wellbeing

We want to hear from the community about your ideas to improve this area.

Local priorities

The ward partnership brings together local people, community groups, organisations, and councillors to take action on what’s important to their area.

We have identified priorities that we are working on to address over the coming months:

  • coordinate clean-up of litter (including drug equipment) and graffiti
  • anti-social behaviour- substance misuse and street drinking
  • rough sleeping
  • begging- with a supporting campaign to raise public awareness
  • support for socially isolated families with young children

Current projects

The ward partners are working to develop existing litter picking groups to keep the ward clear of litter. Car parks are now checked daily to ensure drug litter is removed. Local intelligence is fed back to service areas to keep the town centre free from graffiti and rubbish and to help services find individuals in need of support.

We are promoting the diverted giving campaign to raise awareness about better ways for the community to support those who are begging.

To enhance the support that is currently on offer for socially isolated families, we have begun mapping existing groups that support parents of young children. This is to ensure support is available throughout the week in different locations and caters for a range of needs.
