Community Conversations

Community Conversations, coordinated by Community Boards, bring together local members of the community to gather insight, share ideas and raise issues concerning the area. By listening to the voices of the local community and stakeholders, we can help shape local choices and local action.

How Community Conversations work

Your local Community Board is hosting a series of “Community Conversations” this summer.

The purpose of Community Conversations is to help build an insight and data-led picture of local communities to help support, develop and inform priorities for the Community Board area. By creating a space to gather intelligence at a local level, Community Conversations are an opportunity to listen to the voices of local stakeholders, businesses, community groups and members of the community.

Community Conversations can take many different forms, and include:

  • Drop-in to local events or sessions taking place in the board area (e.g. in Libraries, village halls or community centres) to gain insight from engaged residents.
  • Ward Partnership workshops – hosted by Community Boards to capture people’s views all together in one session and enable networking across the board/ward area.
  • 121s with key stakeholders and stakeholder groups. This includes grass roots, sports clubs and village societies, as well as voluntary and community sector groups such as not for profits operating within communities. These could be charities, community groups, social enterprises, faith-based organisations, and various other associations focused on social good.
  • Emails from Community Board managers to local stakeholders requesting information and feedback.
  • Engagement with Town and Parish councils to hear about the opportunities and concerns of local residents.

Community Boards

Buckinghamshire Council launched its refreshed Community Board model in April 2025, with a strong focus on community engagement and development to deliver place-based change with local communities. There are eight Community Boards covering the county, with each having its own dedicated Community Board Chair, Vice Chair and Manager working closely with ward Members, local stakeholders and community groups to deliver the boards effectively.

Community Boards bring the council, groups, organisations and local people together. Their aim is to look at local issues and find ways of improving them by listening and responding to local needs.
